Evaluation of Wood Vinegar as an Herbicide for Weed Control

نویسندگان

چکیده

Wood vinegar, a by-product of wood pyrolysis, is mostly discarded. vinegar has phytotoxic effect and could be potentially used as naturally derived herbicide for weed control. The objective this research was to evaluate the efficacy from pyrolysis apple (Malus × domestica Borkh.) tree branch wastes control weeds. concentrations required inhibit 50% motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca L.), redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus Spanish needles (Bidens pilosa tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea L.) seed germination measured 0.51%, 0.48%, 0.16%, 1.1%, respectively. application rates (spray volume) provide 1911 L ha−1 653 ha−1, respectively, while highest evaluated rate at 4000 controlled 35% by 10 days after treatment (DAT). Common purslane (Portulaca oleracea increased 500 2000 ha−1. more effective in dark than light conditions controlling common purslane. By 5 DAT, averaged over rates, provided 95% 87% conditions, These findings suggest that obtained branches management.

Reduced herbicide rates for an effective weed control in competitive wheat cultivars

A study was carried out over 2 years (2008/2009 and 2009/2010) in Greece, in order to evaluate the weed control using reduced rates of the herbicide mesosulfuron-methyl+iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium of four major weeds (Avena sterilis, Phalaris minor, Papaver rhoeas and Sinapis arvensis), grain yield and yield components of five wheat cultivars (Bob, Cosmodur, Meridiano, Quadrato and Simeto). The ...

Mesotrione – a New Herbicide for Weed Control in Maize

Six field trials were conducted over three growing seasons to evaluate both pre-and post-emergence applications of the recently developed herbicide mesotrione, for weed control in maize. As a pre-emergence treatment it provided excellent control of broadleaf weeds (>99% reduction in dry matter) but was poor on grass weeds (ca 80% reduction). However, its combination with atrazine, s-metolachlor...
